Integrated Builders announced that it has been selected to construct a 60,000 s.f. office building expansion for MACOM Technology Solutions, Inc. on behalf of owner Calare Properties. Jeff Checkoway, Vice President of PMRG, is the Owner’s Representative for the project. The Integrated Builders team includes Project Manager Thomas Childs, Assistant Project Manager Barbara Frazier, and Superintendent Jim Leiter who will collaborate with Matt Formicola of architect Spagnolo Gisness & Associates (SGA), Steve Glowacki of civil engineer R.J. O’Connell, MEP engineer WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, and landscape architect Copley Wolff on the modern design.
MACOM is ranked in the Top 10 Fastest Growing Public Tech Companies in Massachusetts according to the Boston Business Journal (2016). The organization delivers leading edge semiconductor technologies for optical, wireless, and satellite networks. MACOM has over 1,400 workers throughout North America, and its headquarters is located in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Integrated’s team attended the official groundbreaking ceremony on April 12th. The new building will be framed in structural steel, and clad in terracotta panels and glass curtain walls. The existing building will receive an aluminum façade to complement the new building and establish an overall campus feel. MACOM’s design and operational center will remain. The new and old office buildings will be connected with a 30-foot elevated bridge that is encompassed in glass across 2 floors. The finished product will consist of a three-building campus.
Integrated will implement significant landscaping and hardscaping. There will be patios with wall seating and an outdoor grill. There will also be a new parking lot to include charging stations for electric vehicles, and an aluminum picket fence around the perimeter installed. The interior of the new office building will feature individual offices, conference rooms, and collaborative work areas. Integrated will create a commercial cooking kitchen, new entrance, and reception area. Additionally, there will be an elevator and a loading dock added to the building for shipping and receiving. The Integrated team will be challenged as the existing building will remain occupied throughout construction. However, the firm intends to strategically phase work to minimize disruption to operations and traffic.
The MACOM office expansion is located at 100 Chelmsford Street in Lowell, MA. The building is situated close to Route 495 which makes it a convenient location for commuters in the North Shore region. It is also near UMASS Lowell, several other corporate offices, retail stores, and restaurants.
